Deter is the Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation (DETR) is the state’s lead workforce development agency. It consists of divisions that offer workforce-related services, job placement and training, services for people with disabilities, investigation of claims of discrimination, unemployment insurance benefits, labor market data, and more. Many of these services are provided through Nevada Job Connect career centers. Deter is also affiliated with the following workforce organizations

Outside the scope of that They deal directly with unemployment insurance information for claimants and employers, the filing of unemployment benefits, unemployment insurance employer self services, unemployment fraud and filing a complaint of discrimination. Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) was or still is a new temporary federal program that is part of the Corona virus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. PUA is separate from unemployment insurance and provides coverage only to individuals who are not eligible for regular unemployment insurance.

Veteran is told they do not qualify since there are other government programs available to provide aid

A Veteran applied for the pandemic unemployment insurance and was deemed qualified for assistance. shortly after the application process, the Veteran received a notice stating that they do not qualify currently because there are other programs out there that they are qualified for, even though the current amount being received for unemployment was unsustainable for a family of four and was set to expire on around mid summer, which was only a few months away. At this point the Veteran decided to appeal. The appeal process has been going on for a year now since the Veteran decided to keep filing their claim anxiously awaiting the appeal so as to avoid homelessness during a pandemic.

As the payout balance continued to grow, it grew from approximately eight thousand dollars to thirty thousand. At this time the Veteran was no longer receiving unemployment benefits. According to the correspondence received, Pua should be a last option when unemployment benefits are no longer available. At this point, the Vteran felt that their wa some type of dicriminatory action taking place, continue the appeal process and consider taking lega action. On or around July, the Veteran received a notice from the unemployment division informing them that their debit card payments will be witched to the Way 2 Go debit card sysemt and they will no longer be receiving their unemploymnet benefits. Finally the Veteran was disqualified from receiving unemployment benefits on the basis of their agency no longer being able to identify them.

After a year on appeal Deter continue to deny benefits based on Veteran needed to look elsewhere for financial assistance
