Jay-z started off his career as a rapper representing Brooklyn New York. He is professionally known as an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, and record executive. Outside the scope of his rap career he has had quite a number of business ventures, coming out of BedStuy, we expect nothing less from the Brooklyn native. In 1999, he founded the clothing retailer Rocawear, 2003, he founded the luxury sports bar chain 40/40 Club.
Both multi-million dollar investments, allowed Jay-Z to fund his then start-up entertainment company, Roc Nation, in 2008. Later on in 2015, he acquired the tech company Aspiro, and took charge of their media streaming service Tidal. Tidal is currently the world's third-largest online streaming company.

Jay-Z just joined an elite club of entertainers. Along with that achievement, he's the first in hip-hop to do so. According to Forbes, the rapper's art, real estate, liquor and other investments, along with his entertainment industry earnings, have accumulated into "a fortune that conservatively totals $1 billion." Currently a father of three, his net worth was estimated by calculating the combined value of his businesses and investments. His businesses and investments include Ace of Spades champagne, D'Usse cognac, investment in Uber, Tidal streaming service, art collection and three homes.
