Second To Jayz
Kanye West Is A Billionaire
I recently came across a post on my twitter feed from what I would assume to be a reliable source, concerning Kanye West and lil Durk doing musical collaborations. I’m not sure if it’s just a song, an E.P. or Album feature. Based on the post, it seems like an offer on the table for lil Durk and I wanted to weigh in on it in an article. Now Kanye West is a Billionaire. If I’m not mistaken he came in second to Jayz with regards to the fi billionaires club. Lil Durk is currently trending and has been for quite some time. I believe he may be worth eight million or better and has a huge fan base. Now the question I have remains, is this good for hip hop. Without a doubt, Kanye West is very creative. When it comes to the music he definitely has a Midas touch effect where everything he touches turns to platinum. He rarely fails at anything he really puts his mind to. He’s also what I would consider to be somewhat of a marketing genius with no discretion. In the past we have seen him use the church of god, the United States Presidency and last but not least his Album Donda featured performance, burning the church of god while featuring another artist that currently does not get along with not just Lil Durk, but his entire neighborhood, family, friends and loved ones, whom took no time to express their displeasure with his album feature, merchandise and character and featured Artist. The track entitled GD’s in the door by Rooga, the cousin of the late FBG Duck, a rival upcoming rapper, whom lost his life to gun violence in a broad day brazen ambushed shoot out in an upscale commercial neighborhood in the gold coast region of Chicago.
A Good Opportunity For Lil Durk And Kanye Only
A Guaranteed Hit
I believe this will be a good opportunity for lil Durk and Kanye only, and not so great for the hip hop community. It depends on intention as well as execution. A Collaboration between Lil Durk and Kanye West will be a guaranteed hit. It will provide the opportunity for Kanye to tap into the drill market without doing a drill, or even associating himself and picking a side. From Lil Durk’s perspective he may see things a little different. This could hurt his OBlock OTF branding unless he put his opposition’s name in the song or at a minimum brand OTF heavily on his track, which may or may not sit too well with Kanye, whom strike me as someone that takes control and full responsibility for whatever project he is working on and overall makes the final decision.
A Lesson In It For Oblock
Let's Make Hits
There may be a lesson in this for Lil Durk as well as his fellow Oblock members. Kanye may be setting the stage for something that is needed within the industry itself and that is being able to separate personal from professional. Kanye West at the end of the day is doing something that should be done and that’s bringing the community together as one regardless of personality, personal feelings and/or grudges and make good music, bring opportunity to the table and make hits.
