The Director Of The FBI

The Director of the Federal Bureau of investigations is responsible for it’s day to day operations. The position is a single ten year term appointed by the President of The United States and confirmed by the Senate. Since the FBI is an agency within the Department Of Justice one requirement associated with the position is reporting directly to the Attorney General. The President Of The United States has the authority to remove from office and in the event this situation occur, until a replacement is confirmed the Deputy Director has to assume this new role.

The current FBI Director is Chris Wray. Chris Wray is an American Attorney appointed by former President Donald Trump on June seventh two thousand seventeen. Born in New York, Wray attended Yale university then attended law school and joined the government in nineteen ninety seven as an Assistant United States Attorney. During a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing on Thursday afternoon, Wray will will warn of an "elevated threat" to U.S. public safety and national security, while advocating for an increased budget. Wray will argue at the hearing that the federal agency needs fiscal support to "tackle these threats" to American’s safe. 

Wray’s concerns derives

In the past, among his main concerns were China, the communist party and it’s obvious ability to carry out cyber attacks. His immediate concern is that individuals may gain inspiration from the Israeli Hamas conflict in the middle east and carry out attacks on American soil. Ever since the Russian concert hall attack by Isis k as Director of the FBI he is also concerned with a coordinated attack. Wray will also push for congress to reauthorize the section 702 of the foreign intelligence surveillance act which allow the agency to monitor foreign nationals overseas, which is set to expire on April nineteenth. Americans cant help but feel a sense of indifference when it comes surveillance. Even though section 702 has been credited with the prevention of attacks on American soil, it has been heavily criticized for it’s usage against black lives matter protestors in the summer of twenty twenty as well as the people involved in the Capitol riots on January sixth twenty twenty one.
