TikToc's Ban may create A Vacuum

Tick Tock is an online video social networking app that allow registered users to share videos ranging from a few seconds to a few minutes. Even though the social networking app has billions of users worldwide, in modern day America, TikTok is being look upon as a matter of national security. Our concerns, the Chinese government having the legal authority to have the company turn data which can affect as many of one hundred and seventy million American consumers and business owners. The legislation was signed into law by President Joe Biden but does not reflect an immediate ban but a plan to slowly dismantle its operations within a nine month period with a plan of action unless TikTok Byte Dance, the company behind the world famous app agree to sell to a non Chinese company.

Instagram, an obvious competitor to TikTok is already taking steps to accommodate a potentially new market and plans on using its soon to be banned competitor’s algorithm as some sort of business model. Instagram reels, considered a short form video service will prioritize content originality. They will also focus on their recommended content which at this time serves as an aggregator of content that actual creation, with the changes set to roll out over the next few months,
